Wright Institute Clinical Services Policies

General Policies

Initial Session

During your first appointment, we will listen to your immediate concerns and integrate this information with a few questionnaires to come up with a personalized treatment plan. During or after the initial session, if it becomes apparent that we are not able to provide the best treatment for your concerns, we will refer you to other services or providers in the community.

Confidentiality

Private and confidential treatment is the cornerstone of our clinical services. No information about you will be discussed with anyone outside of the Wright Institute Clinical Services staff without your written permission. Please note that California state law requires exceptions to this rule in the following situations: a) child abuse or neglect; b) older adult/dependent adult abuse or neglect; c) a threat to the life or safety of another person. Confidentiality may also be broken if you are in imminent danger of harming yourself or if you are gravely disabled (i.e., unable to provide food, clothing, or shelter for yourself). Read our Notice of Privacy Practices for more detail regarding how medical information about you may be used and disclosed. It is also important to keep in mind that our clinicians are in training and may discuss your personal information to receive supervision or as part of an educational or research program.

Fees and Payment

Fees for service at the Wright Institute Clinical Services are considered on a sliding scale based on financial need. See specific clinic web page for more information. Payment is expected at the time of service and may be made with either cash or a check, and in some limited cases, you may be eligible to use your Medi-Cal insurance.

Cancellations and Missed Appointments

Since the scheduling of an appointment involves a reservation time specifically for you, advance notice of 24 hours is required for cancellation. You may be charged up to the full fee for sessions missed without at least 24 hours notice.

COVID-19

Vaccinations and self-monitoring COVID symptoms are required to be seen for any in-person services at the clinic. If you have to cancel due to exposure to COVID-19 or due to a positive test result, the 24-hour cancellation policy is waived. Masks are optional but remain highly recommended.

Service Animals

No animals are allowed at the clinic with the exception of certified service animals. You will be asked for documentation for your service animal at the time of your intake or initial appointment.
