Clinical Program Alumni Publish Dissertations in Asian American Journal of Psychology

The Asian American Journal of Psychology recently published its first special issue on Filipino American Psychology. Three Wright Institute Clinical Psychology Program alumni published their dissertations in this peer-reviewed journal.

Sthefany Alviar '20, PsyD, contributed "'You should pray about it': Exploring mental health and help-seeking in Filipino American Catholics." Alviar's study examined the relationship between religious identity, mental health, and help-seeking in Filipino American Catholics.

Crystal Cajilog '19, PsyD, and Arwin Cotas-Girard '18, PsyD, co-wrote "A psychometric investigation of the Enculturation Scale for Filipino Americans-Short Form: Further reliability, validation, and confirmation of factor structure.". Cajilog and Cotas-Girad's multipart research study is the first one since the original publication of the Enculturation Scale for Filipino Americans (ESFA) dedicated to providing new reliability and validity information for the ESFA.

Both dissertations were co-written by Clinical Psychology Program Faculty member Alicia del Prado, PhD. The special issue on Filipino American Psychology can be purchased on the APA website.
